GIVEAWAY | Why We Shouldn't Have High Self Esteem | 12 Days of ChristMASS | Day 11

Edit: The 12 Days of ChristMASS competition is over. Thanks for reading and be on the lookout for any future competitions.

The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. - Proverbs 16:5

Now, I know what you're thinking. Is God telling me not to be proud of myself? Not necessarily. He wants us to be excited for things and be proud of our accomplishments, we just cannot forget who the credit should go to-God. Here's an example: You work so hard to save up enough money to buy a new car, you finally get it and can't wait to post a picture on Facebook with the well-deserved caption "Worked so hard to get the new car. So proud of myself!" What's wrong with this? Well, though it may have been quickly, and innocently posted, you forgot to add the most important part-credit to God. After all, He's the one who provided you with the job, the ability to work overtime, and the comfort-ability in all other areas so you would be able to save for just the car. Everything on Earth is God's. Every plan that could ever come through, is God's. Everything that happens, happened because God spoke it into existence and allowed it to happen.  All the glory is His.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. - John 15:5

This verse can tie in with the first one. God is the vine...we simply branch off from Him. We are nothing without Him. Much like a real branch, we could not survive without the vine, or in a branch's case- the tree. You can try to get through life without maintaining a relationship with God. For a while, He may even let you do your own thing. However, there will come a day when everything falls apart. You struggle to pick up the pieces and just can't seem to get it together. Maybe it's all in one day. You woke up late so you didn't dress well. You spill your coffee on you as you head to work. You get a ticket on the way to work because you were rushing because you woke up late. You arrive at work only to be bad-mouthed by co-workers for dressing sloppy that day. You turn in a document and your boss finds so many errors. You finally get to clock out to go home and you realize you have no groceries to make supper with. Man, what a bad day! Sometimes God allows us to have days like this so we can be reminded that He should be included in even the smallest details. Ask him to help you wake up on time. Ask him to help you drive carefully to work. Ask him to help you through your assignments at work so they're done correctly. Ask him to provide for you and help you to remember tasks that are easily looked over-like getting groceries.

He is there at ALL times, waiting for you to call on him. Acknowledge him in all you do, even the small things, and see how quickly things turn around.
