There are many suggested rep ranges that are "the best" for muscle and strength gains, which is understandable. Of course, we always want to do what is best for getting us to those goals of both muscle growth and strength gains.
While the best rep range for strength gains is dependent on what you mean by "strength" (I explain this in the video), 6 - 12 reps is often stated as "the best" for muscle growth.
Is this the case? Does the 6 - 12 rep range provide maximal muscle growth? Yes and no. 6 - 12 reps does provide many benefits and can result in amazing gains but it isn't magical.
This rep range simply allows you to find a good balance between the amount of weight lifted (intensity) and the number of reps lifted per set. This allows you to accumulate a sufficient amount of total reps (volume), without sacrificing intensity.
